Beyond a Steel Sky

I really wanted to like this game, and I did enjoy many elements of the game but nearly every aspect falls flat and feels unfinished. The puzzle mechanics for the Adventure Game aspects are rarely ever challenging and the story feels like an odd joke. **Minor spoilers** the first game features your protagonist taking down a tyrannical government that is actively harming its citizens. This games city has created a utopia there's no crime, no poverty, hardly anything wrong at all, however because a computer that is smarter then humans misunderstood its prime directive of keeping its people happy, there's just a few things that have gone cartoonishly wrong, in ways that don't remotely make sense to the plot. So, the solution to a utopia that has just a few minor problems? Dismantling the whole thing of course! The ending is lacking of all logic and sense, despite trying to be a "smart" game.

I tried to get into this, but the gameplay is just OK and story isn't compelling enough to make it worthwhile. As good as the aesthetics and voice-acting are, the characters aren't memorable. And the references to the original game are so heavy-handed that they quickly become tiresome. There are better sci-fi games and better adventure games out there.

Excellent story. Good environment. Got on sale and definitely worth it.

This was the cats meow. No Bologna, this game is suberb entertainment. The puzzles or a better word investigations, are not crazy hard and yet not all that easy. There is a ton of talking with mostly good voice acting. The Main character is just the right amount of do-gooder/smarta$$ with a gift for gab. I had so much fun playing this absolute gem of a game.
