Dex

Dex is really one of the best games of its genre but it really can't be definded in just one genre. At firdt you think oh this is just another 2D platformer game. IT'S NOT!! Give it a chance and you will find it's like Deus Ex meets the Matrix. You will enjot an 2D platformer combined with an open world experiance with RPG stylings and stats. The trailer does this game no justice you must experiance it for yourself. It was a very ambitous undertaking. A 2D platform game in an exciting futuristic setting combining an incrdible story with cyberpunk ambiance with incredible hand drawn backgrounds and a great soundtrack. You would expext a linear experiance but you can go almost anywhere even off quest places almost anytime. Dex, your character can be leveled and augmented in many different ways. This game will really surprise you and keep you interested throughout many hours of gameplay. You get to decide what kind of character you want to be. Overall Superb Game.

The graphics, story and gameplay are all very well done. My only complaint would be that combat can become simplistic and too easy if you upgrade a certain way. Since it depends on your playstyle, not everyone will have the same issue that I did. Overall, highly recommended.

As an action game it does play slightly like an rpg, but as an RPG it GLOWS both as a largely unique offering (for anyone under 30) and as a shiny, shiny example of how we grownups pretend scroller rpgs from back in the day actually played. (In truth, if this game had been released during the heyday of Scroller/RPGs, it would be rembered as a G.O.A.T., if only because it has a cohesive story and a drug addicted prostitute with a heart of quartz. "Oh, the gritty realism!" But enough about our rose tint. Dex moves the genre forward w/o disrespecting it's roots. And thats hard stuff. So, if yr looking at it hoping it's what it appears to be... Oh, lord, is it. The best advice i can give any cyberpunk fan is to buy DEX at least half as many times as i have. It's an addictive, exquisite rpg-scroller. Embarrassingly, my library contains 1000+ contemporary console games. Kids, its the 2nd best part of being a grownup. (Fellatio FTW) I've only purchased a handful of them twice. ✌

See title, only game where I have this issue. Happens frequently. Not fun having to figure out how far the game backtracked.

*****UPDATE***** Just completed the game. There are three different endings and I saw all of them. Overall, phenomenal experience. I experienced two bugs however. One saw my save file missing and I had to load a save file from earlier in the game. Also, Mirrorshade Cloaks and the Mirrorshade implant were not turning me invisible. *****UPDATE***** I can not believe it. I had one mision left to complete in order to finish the game. This morning I tried to reload my save, and it was no longer there. UNREAL! I'm loving every bit of what I've played so far. There is just one thing: the mirrorshade cloak implant doesn't seem to be working. I installed the implant and bought several mirrorshade cloak items from Tony, but the 8 seconds of invisibility doesnt seem to work. Please fix ASAP, and I will re-review and give 5 stars!
