1st play
I just beat ff1, which had a mild story, but fun classic rpg gameplay. Other than this ive only ever beat FFX. Im a huge kingdom hearts fan so im trying to get into more FF games to pay respects to its origins, Final Fantasy. So far I like that this ones more story driven than FF1, and theres actual characters you play as unlike FF1. The leveling system is also p cool and i like that your whole party is a jack of all trades (they can literally learn any weapon or spell). My only nitpick is that the game doesnt always tell you what to do. Theres often times where unless you google, you'll be going in circles far longer than necessary. For example, Hilda sends you Bafsk to destroy the dreadnought, but doesnt tell you automatically to learn the keyword to tell the guard. So went all the way there how she told me, and for 30 minutes couldn't get the guard to move for the path i had to go to. I know googling is easy, but it takes away from playing a old school game the old school way.

Underrated Leveling System
I love this game and Romancing Saga because of it.

Great turn based RPG!
Definitely some improvements from FF1. First of all instead of throwing a handful of different quests at you all at once and then trying to remember where they all go, they stuck to one quest at a time bringing you through the story line. Great story line by the way. They did change the leveling system in this game. Instead of leveling your characters you now were improving/leveling their skills with a weapon group and individual spells. Some people did not like this I am sure and some did. At first I hated it but it grew on me as time went on. It reminded me of Ultima Online back in the day. The way you play your character is what they develop into. Biggest tip I can give you is talk and interact with the NPCs. They will tell you what you need and where to go to get it. Magic played a bigger part in FF2 vs FF1. A lot more strategy came into play on how to defeat certain Mobs. Made the game very enjoyable. So jump in and enjoy if you are turn based RPG gamer!
