Beautiful countryside novel and walking simulator
KoolinHolmes
Poetry
Treat this gem as a graphic short story, lyrical, peaceful, romantic. And also a paen to a vanished time of small, comfortable Japan village life. Tatamibeya has constructed a roadside shrine inside the xbox sixth world.

Ignore low reviews
This is a walking sim with minor story and historcal notes. If you want to take a relaxing stroll around rural Japan, this is the best game on the market for many years now. People who give low rating are missing the point, and the game was never meant for them anyways.

Beautiful but boring game
Title says it all. This game is easily one of the most beautiful games I have experienced. The focus on Japanese culture is definitely another huge plus. There are a few smaller problems; like awful sensitivity, a running speed that is so slow you might as well walk, white orbs you need to find to progress the story that are kinda hard to see, no actual direction so you wander around for a needlessly long amount of time, and I found the area you can walk in to be dissapointingly small. The biggest problem is the fact that it's just boring. The actual concept of the story is cool, but my nerves got shot pretty quick when I was just reading dialogue for 10 minutes straight (sometimes longer). If it was shorter, or maybe if there was actual scenes of the events, the reading wouldn't have been as bad. That being said, the actual town itself is neat and if you speak Japanese (I unfortunately don't) you might enjoy reading the signs in the town.

A gorgeous and amazing game
A perfect work of art to walk around and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the small and calm Japanese town as the train and atmosphere is perfectly in line with each other.

Have enjoyed this game since I first bought it, especially the peaceful setting with nice ambiance. I do agree with some folks that there could be some tweaks, such as fine tuning some translation, or maybe offering an onscreen reminder in one of the corners for your most recent tip (though I can understand this may ruin the immersion). This game isn't meant to be fast paced, and I had no issues with the run speed, as you're not out-running anyone. I was perfectly happy to be going faster than the walk, and I found traveling the map reasonable, overall. Granted, sometimes it was a little confusing figuring out in which direction to scan for the next white dot (mostly learning curve of getting to know the differences between the various houses/ buildings). In short, think of this as more of a meditative experience... With some dark notes (nothing too sinister, but be forewarned if you're sensitive to some emotional content and mortality). Enjoy :)
