Making a masterpiece even better
Crysis 2 is my favorite game in the series, and this remaster makes it even better. The old 2011 version still holds up today, and the newer lighting effects really make this game feel alive Update: After having thoroughly played through all 3 games, 100%ing C1 and C2 and almost doing the same in C3, I've decided Crysis 2 is STILL the best in the series. It may not have the stunning semi open world environments of the first game or the jawdroppingly cinematic and emotional story moments of the third, but that's exactly why I think it's the best: It was the best of both worlds. C2 really makes you feel like a supersoldier action hero, while still maintaining the gritty tactical vibe from the first game. The Ceph feel like a much more significant threat here, both in story and gameplay. I highly recommend giving this game a shot, especially on the highest difficulty where you need to make split second decisions and use all of the Nanosuit's abilities.

The Definitive Console Version of a Devisive Sequel
For those of us on 360/PS3 over a decade ago, the Crysis franchise was well out of reach of being playable...until the sequel dropped on our woefully underpowered consoles and showed it was indeed possible, although not without sacrifices that stoke the fury of those on PC who expected a repeat of the first title in terms of graphic fidelity & environmental freedom to explore. Instead we received a new story and protagonist, along with a simplified control scheme in a dense city setting with a decent sense of verticality. Unfortunately the performance on console was at times serviceable at best, and despite Crytek's best efforts the game under-performed in sales. (The third in the series would be the last after further market failure.) This remaster won't resolve any issues one may have with the narrative, but from a technical perspective it's impressive, especially on a 4K display. Textures are sharp, sound design is on point, and the framerate is smooth as butter.
