Lock's Quest

"Go fix that 4th wall, son." sold me on this, and i'm fully in support of now-gen remakes of severely top notch ds games. I'll be back when i've put some dozens of hours into this version. The original was superb, and i heartily dislike tower defense, mostly because it's real time and therefore stressful. But this is not that. That much i can say having barely touched this update-ish cross platform gift from THQ-Blonde. The Nerd Lobby supports and appreciates your efforts.

Very awesome kind of unique tower defense game. I can honestly say this game should be great. My curiosity made me buy this game, and sure it is very entertaining. This is where the fun stuff ends however, because (and I may have maybe missed something I'm not quite sure) this game is buggy. Like really buggy. I was having frame rate issues simply from trying to place structures and this made keeping up with objectives impossible to manage. I get through the beginnings of this game no problem; all seemed well and fine. On story mode around quest 4, I thought I had figured out, how to build my defenses. I managed to keep up with everything thus far. Died. Okay so I'll restart, maybe I'll get to rebuild. Nope. I quit, and try out defensive mode. Die at wave 3. Okay, time to go back to story mode. I only started with 150 material or essance or whatever. I can't build anything. Umm... Warning: This game needs some updates. Good game, good concept, terrible execution thus far. Needs Update

The game itself is awesome, its one of the best to come out on the DS in my opinion. This version however has several bugs and the controls feel overall way less smooth compared to the DS version. A couple glitches have kept me from playing altogether, such as one that kept me stuck between a couple trees unable to move and forced to lose the round.

Ihave played and beaten the original game, never did I run into a single bug yet thats all Ican find here! Enemies attacking at nothing or just not attacking at all. Each build phase I never have enough time due to the poor controls. The controls themselves can be forgiven however, not the many bugs or the horrid time limits. Then there is the total abscences of Kingdom Force units to aid you, they are totally gone even though in the original they were there. Increasing the build phase time limits, returning the kingdom force units, and of course fixing the bugs, would make the game enjoyable like the original.

The game's jank far outweighs it's unique style, and that's a shame. The build menu is broken to say the least. Often times I'll get stuck with an item in the curser and I can't build anymore or I'll get locked out of other menues and can only build walls or something. Sometimes I'll just get locked out of the manu entirely and have to quit out. Even if everything works, I'm rarely given a fair amount of time in the build mode due to the time limit. It's not the timer's fault, but most of my time in that mode is spent fighting those jank mechanics. There's a serious lack of consideration and care for this control scheme. Plus I'm trying to be very cautious not to trigger any bugs. I got this game on sale for only like $2 and I still feel like that's $2 too expensive for this glorified mobal game. I couldn't imagine spending full price on it
