Mafia: The Old Country Definitive Edition

A decent game as long as you aren't expecting too much. Older setting is neat but feels like that was done as an excuse to cut out the urban environment and police system. Very scaled back from the other Mafia games, which is worrisome. Extremely (and I mean EXTREMELY) basic gameplay and mission design. Doesn't build on its predecessors and instead actually regresses quite a bit. If it weren't for the graphics I'd swear Mafia DE was the newer game. The strength of the game is supposed to be the story, but the story is pretty predictable. If you played Mafia DE you'll likely know exactly where the story is going long before it gets there. Still a very cinematic experience, but wish they focused more on making sure their video game was fun to play instead of just fun to watch. The best thing about this game are the cutscenes, and it seems like that's what they were going for. Except playing a video game for the cutscenes is like watching a movie for the soundtrack.

I've been a big fan of Mafia and it's series since the very first one released. This game is graphically impressive and fluid, no hiccups or glitches or bugs. That being said, it felt so short and forced. Whereas a game like Mafia 2 let you grow, explore a rich world, and really feel like you embodied the character. This one is a forced 10 hour journey that you have very little freedom from for exploration or decision making. Imagine you'll be playing a 10 hour on rails movie, and not enjoying a typical Mafia game experience, and you won't be disappointed. That being said, I'm very disappointed in how short and shallow this journey was, and really regret dropping 60$ on a 10 hour game with no replay value. Save your money on this one, or wait for it to go on sale or join gamepass. Not worth the money!

Great SHORT story, but why can you finish it in a couple hours? Just wait for Gamepass, damn i feel cheated!!

Dont get me wrong i love the mafia series; but i am tired of it being the same storyline of betrayal; need a mafia game where you start out like enzo and actually become a trusted mafioso. All 4 games are about betrayal and the real life mobsters are loyal to a fault. Give us a game without betrayal. Give a game where we can become a loyal and trusted member of the family.

Very disappointed. Game was short and guided, no exploration and the map is useless. No replay value, and the ending is awful. Save your coins on this one, and wait for a discount or play free with game pass.
