Outcast - Second Contact
Bigben · Action & adventure
Outcast – Second Contact is the complete remake of the cult title which sparked the open world, action-adventure genre. Take off on an exploration of Adelpha, an alien world as beautiful as it is dangerous, where your heroic journey places the fate of two worlds in your hands.
This was my FIRST pc game and i loved it. First time i ever saw the consequences of your actions in a game and it blew me away. Game still holds up today for me but not much has been impoved upon like the controls

Old School Nostalgia
Rough around the edges and dated graphics. If you get past that there is a weirdly wonderful world to explore, plenty of quests and some charming but corny humor tossed in. The soundtrack is outstanding, performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. If you are looking for a sci-fi driven action adventure/RPG with 90's gameplay, not much handholding, this is your game.

Wait
If you like those games where you have to go talk to that guy over there then go talk to that guy way over there then go tell that guy way over there what the other guy said and wait now you have to go way over there and talk to another guy then YOU WILL LOVE THIS.

Bad? Yes. Fun? Absolutely.
Is it a bad game? Yes. Is it enjoyable? Absolutely. I have never enjoyed a bad game this much in my life. The voice acting sounds like a highschool play gone wrong, the writing is something from a bad fanfiction, the story reads like a 4h grader's scifi fantasy, the quests are so far apart that it forces you to explore, and the controls feel like Dark Souls 1 in desperate need of coffee.
Now don't get me wrong: while it is bad, none of it is annoying. In fact, the levels of bad actually come together to make an amazingly charming experience. I found myself laughing at the absurdity of the story and dialog and fighting some serious fights when the ai pathing and shooting broke.
While not for everyone, if you don't take it seriously you'll probably have a lot of fun.

The most honest review free of nostalgia glasses.
Besides the portal crashes, bad camera config and wonky auto-aim, I actually enjoyed this game enough to finish it even 100% achievements which you can do easily. If you try to travel through portals too much before finishing an area the game might crash. Being a third-person shooter, the camera configuration is key and it is terrible when you get in tight spots. The auto-aim makes shooting while moving impossible but you can fix this by switching to free aim. I have no nostalgia for this game and graphics isn't important to me however a polished game is. Three stars is my honest rating.
