The Bard's Tale Trilogy

I remember spending hours back in the 80's grinding this on a Apple IIgs. I forgot about it until I saw it on Gamepass. Fired it up and WOOSH alot of memories came flooding back. Arcades at the mall, Marty McFly, Chuck E Cheese, floppy disk drives...it really took me back to such a great time growing up. I don't know if the game will appeal to the younger crowd but if you enjoyed this back then it's definitely worth your time now.

Do not listen to the idiots who said that this isn't the "real" Bard's Tale, and then refer to the top-down hack-n-slash from 2004 like it was the original. This is a remastery of the true original, first released on the Apple II in 1985, and in my opinion it has aged like a good wine, a rich and satisfying experience. Some of the new quality of life features are nice, and I imagine make it more accessible for gamers who did not grow up in the DOS era like myself, but the core feel of the original game is still there. Games like Bard's Tale, Ultima, Buck Rogers, Might and Magic, and Pool of Radiance were my bread and butter growing up, and playing this gem again was a real treat, a nice stroll down memory lane. Definitely recommend it, highly.

I personally think it gets a bit boring, but it's a great game by modern day standards: Doesn't crash constantly causing you to lose substantial progress, doesn't have bugs that completely ruin your playthrough, and has a finished, complete story.

Still have no idea what im doing but it's fun to grind levels until you brute force some progress.

Thank you Microsoft! This is one heck of a pleasant surprise seeing this remastered version of the first three games. I'm blown away in all honesty. These classics of old pc and eight-bit nintendo days was something many of us relish then and now. The Bard's Tales are truly iconic in paving the way for RPGs and to be able to play them on my Xbox One X is truly heaven-sent. I like many will have another chance to relive those fond memories and make ones at the same time. Classic turned base combat with a party of up to seven characters with a big world to explore. Great job Devs! Looking forward to part four at the end of the month.
