I'm working on a 15 year hyperfixation with souls games, and i've played pretty much all of them. The draw here is the combat engine. It is far deeper than it initially seems, with a surprising number of build options for a game that adds bloodbourne and sekiro details to very strong souls basics. It's built around how you choose to augment your secondary combat options. At first glance it seems like a counter focused game, but that's just one build. You could trade it in for a normal block, exchanging timing based perfect defense for a more standard hold to block, mitigation model. And there are other blocking options too. And every part of your arsenal and moveset has these cool variations. These options are the core of the game. it's peculiar that the majority of the bad reviews don't really mention any of this. It's what makes this game special, and what gives both combat and multiple playthroughs their appeal. Anyway, sharp accurate combat. Some of the best among soulslites.

Played thru the opening tutorial section but had to stop because of way too much motion blur. I was having fun, and I'm excited to play it, but the motion blur was giving me a headache. Please allow us to disable motion blur. Thank you!

Pretty average game. It's a notably indie SoulsBorne mimic, and at the $25 price it was worth it, but I'll not be re-playing. Some gripes stop it from being more than mediocre. Plague weapons are cool but you have to grind to improve them, and the upgrades never felt worth the trouble. Every enemy including the crazy easy bosses just face-tank attacks til you whittle them down. Story is almost non-existent and forgettable. I really wanted to like this, but it served as only a mild break from other games.

Challening game. Really enjoyed altering talents, to fit the boss styles. Experimenting with different plague weapons was interesting. If you refuse to deflect (parry), you will struggle. Game is definitely on the shorter side. Hoping for a DLC.

The game is great, there’s lore, you just have to find and read it. (Just like DS or Elden ring) the combat is fast and visceral. I see people giving this game positive reviews but giving the game 2 or 3 stars. Remember it’s not a major company making this game. It’s not going to be seikro or Elden ring. Just because it’s not doesn’t mean it’s not a great game. Expand your horizons and don’t be such an elitist fan boy. IE: “it’s not souls or Elden ring so the game is trash” support these devs!!!
