The game itself is pretty straightforward: shoot the bad guys to clear the rooms. Each enemy presents their own challenges, and when faced with multiple, especially on harder levels, good decisions are required. As you live and die, the Sin points can be used to unlock better weapons, perks. You won't beat it right away, might even give up, but if you keep coming back, eventually you will. The game isn't Hades, more like a western Dead Cells, but the art style reminiscent of Hellboy, the interesting lore only found in Sin & death, the decently somber music, and the great choice in casting Hellboy himself, Ron Perlman, all paired with the relative cheapness of the game, this all collectively earns it 5 stars.

A great roguelike!
Too many people are giving this game a bad rep because they don't understand the mechanics, Don't listen to them, The gunplay is great and the cover mechanic works well too. There is also a great deal of weapon variety. Try the game out, you'll be glad you did :)

Simple and Clean
Shame it never got the love that similar indie roguies got. It doesn't reinvent the genre but it does put a neat spin on the usual gameplay mechanics and systems. Big fan of the cover system, dodge flow, light/dark aspects, and the attempt at giving it a unique story. Plus the weapons and perks are all interesting or at least helpful. Bought the DLC but really wish a sequel existed

A lot of people don't get it
Its unfortunate that this is getting bad reviews from people who don't get the mechanics and want to call it broken. The aiming system is lock on like XCOM and other turn based strategy games. You need to pop lanterns to create light and then you can see the enemy to lock on. People are firing into the dark at unrevealed enemies expecting to be accurate when you really only have a 10% chance of contact. So no, theres nothing wrong with the aiming, the game doesnt reward you for shooting blind into the dark.
Also you need to defeat a boss to gain a relic to teleport, which appears very early in the game. This tells me how little of the game these 1 and 2 stars actually played. This is a fantastic roguelike that really opens up at Chapter 2. Early stages are hard but like any game of this genre, play, die, adapt, learn from your mistakes and push forward. Very rewarding and has the potential to be played for hundreds of hours with a ton to unlock.

Great Rogue Lite
Not sure whats up with the negative reviews saying it has bad controls and glitchs. I've not encountered a single glitch and I don't have any issues with the controls. I can easily clean a room without thinking about what buttons to press. I think some players just need to get gud.
