first day one release ive bought in over a year. Been playing all day which is GOOD. Its kinda hard to explain the mechanics but it's essentially a tactical survival horror/base builder/ rts. A fair degree of micromanagement and consistent maintenance is key here but don't let that scare you off. No, its not a super fast paced run and gun which is probably what a certain sector of the Aliens fanbase really want but honestly, most alien shooters aren't very good. Tactical roleplaying was present in a very early Alien game for the commodore 64 as well as an AVP RTS on the PS2/xbox and it worked so that makes me wonder if the devs had been influenced by those games. bottom line- yeah it's a solid game. im pleased to see that most of the other reviewers online feel the same. Aliens is a hit and miss franchise both on film and in games but we certainly deserve more games that reflect the standard on display here. For now, this is in my personal list of favorite aliens games.

I own AvP: Extinction and am so glad we got another tactical strategy game set in this Universe. It's really well done! I just beat the first mission with 98% completion, carrying out an unconscious marine, and a few of my squad at 1hp. "Let's Go, Marines; WE ARE LEAVING"!! Customizing your marines is like XCOM, but your troops start with negative traits and can gain more. My favorite guy is a kleptomaniac! The trauma system is well thought out and does lend well to adding tension. Resources are plentiful, but mismanagement can also add tension when ammo runs low. The best part of the gameplay is being allowed to withdraw your marines and redeploy with fresh troops; you don't fail the mission. Go as slow or as fast as you wish. I'm eager to play more! Hopeful for DLC. Huge recommend for ALIENS franchise fans. If you like tactical strategy games, maybe give it a shot.

Not bad for a human..... or a strategy game

REALLY NAILS THE FEELING OF THE FRANCHISE. Basically its Xcom+Aliens+Twin stick shooter+resource management, gameplay wise. If you love any of those things just buy it!
