Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition

Original mechanics and fun exploration. Felt the same as playing Hollow Knight for the first time. One of my all time favorites. The reviews suck because mad but bad.

Honestly though, what are y'all going on about? Lmao Those of you saying that the movement mechanics are broken are misguided. Of course the movement is gonna feel weird if your used to regular side-scrollers. This game puts a unique twist on the way you move, which can lead to some interestingcombat and puzzle solving! The soundtrack for this game is absolutely amazing, and if you played for a minute or so and left a bad review, I encourage you to at LEAST listen to the OST on spotify or youtube. And to y'all saying that the game is too hard and is your sole reason for leaving a negative review, I humbly request that you remove yourself from reviewing anything, EVER. We don't need y'all artificially decreasing this game's rating. And why even try a gamee before reading reviews? Cus i KNOW a lot of y'all didn't, cus y'all complained about wonky mechanics when tHERE ARE REVIEWS FROM 2018 THAT MENTIONS HOW THE GAME CONTROLS LIKE! -sincerely, an avid indie game enjoyer

Been waiting for this game. pixels are a little hard on the eyes. But other than the aesthetics. lies a physics based, 90 degree traversing, mind bending puzzle shooter with amazing verticality. for an indie title , This game forces you to be unconventional. "dont think outside the box because there is no box"

Initially very impressed with the unique gameplay, but eventually was disappointed. The end game feels like they just tried to throw everything at you at once in a sad attempt at "difficulty", none but 3 achievements popped, with all the rest glitching and the "story" seemed like it was trying so hard to be mysterious, it crossed right over into boring. What started out as an interesting take on the Metroidvania genre eventually revealed itself to be a mediocre game with a neat gimmick.

2018 is shaping up to be a great year for the MetroidVania genre. Dandara sets itself apart from it's counterparts in it's movement system. Instead of typical usual run-&-gun action, the titular character, named after a Afro-Brazilian folk hero, can leap onto any surface covered in salt. This makes traversal through the varied areas of the game and combat with enemies an interesting and fun challenge. In addition to collectable items to find, you can level-up your stats at campsites by collecting salt from enemies. However, you drop your salt when you die and have one chance to collect it, just like that one massively overrated game people think is hard. The overall presentation is very well done. The spritework is pleasing, the music does a great job setting the mood for the areas of the game they are set in, and the plot is told well. Only complaint I have is that the controls cannot be changed.
