Empire of Sin

I started playing this game knowing nothing about it. It was on GamePass. I am usually very picky about what I play, and wasn't expecting much. I can play this game for hours at a time... It definitely makes you lose track of time; "Just one more thing, and I'll be done..." I was sad when it left GamePass, but I actually bought it! I like it that much... However, I just recently found out this game is wildly believed to be among one of the worst games... While I believe it is pretty broken and glitchy at times, and I am definitely frustrated by the slow pace can be, I think this is such an enjoyable and unique simulation, base defending, business running, turn-based combat game. One of my favorite things about it is the work that went into the over 50 unique characters. They all have great design, backstories, voices, abilities... I find myself singing along to the 1920s jazz scores... I do understand the hate on this game, but I think it is way too harsh. Give it a chance.

I want to love this game but it's hard at times. The setting is wonderful, but the game lacks depth. There are only 4 kinds of rackets(5 with DLC) and there is nothing outside of combat and upgrading to do. No world interaction. There's diplomacy and there are relationships between characters but they're very shallow. And your character can't form one. Also there no character customization at all. I spent money on this game before realizing that the developers seemingly abandoned it.

Fun game. Found game breaking bug. Checked forums and the devs said they were looking into it. 2 years ago now. Main quest cant be completed. Tried numerous workarounds and new starts. Dont waste ur money.

The game is good but gets boring after awhile. Once you took over a few neighborhoods it gets bland. Combat is nice and so are the characters. There is not a lot of character interactions and not a lot of depth. It a 6/10 2.7/5

Firstly, I love this game. It is a lot more enjoyable than the reviews suggested. However, EoS is not a perfect game. Pros: This is a great timesink. Building your empire is simple yet entertaining. The combat is very exciting & challenging from start to end game level. The music is great (if a bit repetitive) and nails the 20's atmosphere. The Factions are well balanced and each gangster is unique. Building a perfect crew takes time, loyalty, and money. Cons: There are bugs. Especially with the main quest. The player can be a little OP in the late game which reduces the challenge. Conversely the AI can be way too OP because they get reinforcements every combat round. Overall, 4.5 out of 5
