Ghost Blade HD

This vertical shooter really surprised me with it's gorgeous art, decent soundtrack, and rock solid production values. If you like games like Giga Wing, , Mars Matrix, or Guwange then you really need to add this to your collection right now especially at this price point. 5 stars!

Classic bullet hell gameplay thats forgiving enough if played on easy.

So, close to a year later I come back expecting. a patch. Nope. Still has broken achievements. Try on hard, Training, play for 2 hrs are all broken.

NEEDS ARCADE STICK SUPPORT!

Ghost Blade is a Shooter that was made from inspiration but for no other purpose: while it handles itself competently, it does little new to add to or advance the Manic Shooter sub-genre. It's most endearing aspect is its use of an Extends/Extra Lives System (something most modern Shooters tend to forget). The game manages to use varied Bullet and Enemy Attack Patterns enough to make Extends warmly welcome. Musically, the tunes vary from exciting to off-beat enough to match action rather than setting and the graphics are made to discern colorful enemy bullets from the well-detailed backgrounds. Sadly, the game's overall individuality is lost from here as the pretty but pointless pilot design and oddly-set typical plot result in a prehistorically lackluster climax. The limited variety in player attack/defenses, non-existent art direction, non-descrip enemies, generic sound effects and length makes the game feel unfinished. It's a good introduction to Manic Shooters, but nothing more.
