INDIKA

I want to start by saying that I don't regret buying this game. It's beautiful, it's clever, it's compelling, it was clearly made with a grip of love. But it's not exactly what I was hoping it would be. If you go in with the right expectations, you'll have a great time. This is more or less a third-person narrative adventure with *light* gameplay. Think Senua without the combat, and Edith without the deep storyline. There are some puzzles but not a lot, some traversal challenges but not a lot, and some platforming but not a lot. They could have made Indika a lot more "game-y" if they had relied more heavily on the dope prayer mechanic; this would have been a very different review if the game had been built around that. I can only imagine the heights that could have been reached by combining it with the other mechanics. To sum up, Indika is good, not great. It deserves a 3.5-star rating; I rated it 4 stars because of the high production value. I'll buy their next game for sure!

9.5 would smoke again

This was disturbingly weird and bleak. I absolutely love how it ended and I know it will haunt me for weeks to come. That said, this not a videogame; This is a movie with very weak gameplay. You might just be better off watching a playthrough, but I definitely felt the need to pay for this unique experience.

If you're a fan of Hellblade, there's parallels. It's a well written story with a sort of art house vibe, and light puzzle interaction. I wish the prayer mechanic was utilized in 2-3 more puzzles, because it's such strong content both visually and thematically. I would've also loved to have seen more of the interior design of the cathedral, what was shown was only in cutscenes and the detail is so intricate I would've appreciated all that hard work with a more interactive use, say if Indika were to pray next to some candles or sat by some pews for example. Overall, any fan of single player story narratives, this is a must play.

I Listened to the one other review that I saw, and all i can say is its an amazing narative and it's definitely worth a purchase. Audio and VA is amazing. To the team that worked on this piece of art, its perfect 😊. Ps this is the first game I've ever felt the need review
