Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Noir Adventure

Lacuna is all about detective work, chasing down leads, finding clues, and conducting interviews to get to the bottom of interplanetary crimes. It tells a well-written story that encourages you to dig deeper to find answers. 5/5

This game kept impressing and engaging me throughout my whole playthrough. It was consistently thoughtful, fun and a great sci-fi adventure game that hits the detective aspect perfectly. I really can’t recommend this enough, if you’re a fan of adventure games with a strong sci-fi story plot. It does everything it sets out to do and so more. I really hope the developers build on this and provide us with more intriguing stories, as I for one want more.

A compelling narrative, full of shades of grey that make you truly question what is right, or rather, if there truly ever was a "right," at all. I do have to knock off a star though for the lack of ability to re engage with the fullness of previous information. For example, you click on a clue record and it says "this has info of X," which at one point you had looked over, but does not let you even review a summary. I find it hard to believe a good detective in an interplanetary future could not snap a pic or, if such is against protocol, write out a summation. Only other thing is that this is not a game you will want to repeat again for achievements. The novelty of no saving is a boost for immersion and a bane for achievement hunting. In summary: Good game. 4/5.

The gave has a very slow pace to it-which is welcomed in this A.D.D. age of super fast, superficial living our culture is steeped in. My problem with it is that there's a lot to remember & be aware of which shows the level of detail the game contains & that's good BUT you have to remember all these details & the decisions you have to make have a time bar that rushes you to choose. Mass Effect had a lot of detail & decisions but no time bar to respond & also no auto save, locking you into your choice & preventing you from changing something. I get that its trying to be more realistic but it gives me pause & a little anxiety to play for fear of making a wrong decision & totally ruining my whole game. I like to play games for fun & to relax, not to be on edge. It's a solid game thus far but one I can only play once every few weeks & even then I only play through one short segment & then quit & play something else. It's not for everyone.

The story was engaging and the stakes were high. I also love when choices have actual impact, it added to the investigation element! Need more experiences like this.
