Mech Armada
Lioncode Games · Strategy
Create and command custom Mechs to outmaneuver The Swarm in this post-apocalyptic tactical turn-based rogue-lite. Leverage the terrain, learn each Mech's unique skills and use strategy and resources to survive an ever-changing series of battles to give humanity hope.
Several ignorant people reviewed. Yes the monsters have different abilities, don't just shoot the closest one. The interface could be a lil easier, but it's fine. Energy is really scarce when starting the game, but you get permanent unlocks for all runs to counter that, from upgrades that start you off with more energy to earning more per battle. Having a shield on one mec helps a lot. No glitches! The trailer shows exactly what the game is like. Good job on this game.

Good game for what it is
First off this not XCOM or HBS Battletech so dont expect a super deep AAA experience. That being said, if you enjoy turn based games and Mechs in general then this is worth a try.
The complaints in other reviews about the energy/credit economy and boss difficulty are technically correct however they are missing one key point; you arent supposed to win your first time out. This is very much a live, die, repeat rouge light and there are persistant upgrades you aquire to help you on your next run. My first run I was using mostly random collections of parts with basic mini missles and autocannons. By the time I managed to clear the final boss I was swimming in energy and sporting specialized units that could one shot monsters from halfway across the map.
The only real complaints I have are with the interface; upgrading mechs and configuring your lance are somewhat clunky but after a run or two you get used to it. Also, I cant for the life of me figure out how to enable challenge mode.

Fun Rouguelike, but sparce content
Understand, this is a Rouguelike where you will get better starts as you progress and unlock buffs and parts. Tips: Look at enemy attack range. Starting setup: Ranger body, mini-walker legs, double-double weapon=main unit at start (10) energy. Build a 2nd one, upgrade body to equip a second double-double, then upgrade mini-walker legs, double-doubles, then body for a 3rd weapon. These 2 walkers will win most encounters alone with smart positioning. Also, start with mini-treads, basic body, and machine gun (2 energy) Keep 1 walker slot free to deploy these units as shields for your main walkers or to lure enemies into attack range. Last 2 walkers should be utility focused (always walker legs, aim to get things like the armor tile and shields for frontline, or smoke, mines, and Eagle Eye body if going support). Choose modifiers that emphasize mobility and energy gain to maintain upgrades and not get hit. If Demon boss w/ fog unlocked, transform all weapons to Hammer of Light after kill.

Good until it's not
Mech Armada is a very fun small squad tactics game, until you get towards what I think was the end, at the least, the first major-major boss, and the enemies go from occasional cheap to just straight up bull****. It's so expensive to upgrade and maintain your mechs, that when an enemy tramples terrain marked as impassable and whirlwinds into your support units, literally destroying all of them in one turn... You feel it. Because 40 energy is a lot of the currency required to spawn mechs in this game, and it's not handed out liberally at all.
Enemies that grow infinitely more powerful as you clear a group in a game as high stakes as this one are also just bad game design elements. Life is hard enough, no one needs artificial diffictlty mechanics like that. I like a challenge but trash like that ruins an otherwise positive experience.

Solid Title, but a bit buggy
Great tactical turn based game that's easy to get into. A bit buggy at time(button prompts straight up not working as well as crashs losing progress) but far from an unplayable experience. Solid recommend
