Outcast - A New Beginning

...does it warm up quick! Great open world, tons of exploration, and a robust upgrade system are very well-implemented, but the combat and movement? The combat and movement systems are FIRE. The combat feels like Rage 2 (but better) and the jetpack movement feels Dark Void (but better). The writing and dialogue made me grimace a bit; we get lots of Saturday morning cartoon tropes here. For example, we get the cartoonishly evil villain, the hard-of-hearing character "humorously" mishearing things, a cute creature being "adopted" by a character, etc. Pure cartoon logic, but it WORKS. Yes, the usual open world mainstays are included (fetch quests, base clearing, hunts, and the like) but with such great movement mechanics, it's all fun. I'm actually happy for once that this game will go on and on. Get it on sale if you must, but it's well worth the asking price.

If you're like me, you've played AA experiences like ELEX, Outward, or perhaps even Kingdom Come Deliverance (though the last one might be AA+ or AAA-). In any event, the so-called "EuroJank RPG" that is dripping with charm that big-boy RPGs just don't risk. That's this game, full stop. By comparison, ELEX left me disappointed -- too much jank. But this, the 40 FPS Quality Mode produces fluid, and beautiful action. The music is, frankly, stellar. The story actually gets really good, if not a bit slow to start. The world, and exploration, are chef's kiss -- truly neat towns and biomes. Yes, this is essentially a check-box RPG in the vein of Ubisoft. But, it has so much more charm, in my book. Also, once you unlock a few jetpack upgrades, this game go full on Just Cause -- and is a joy to sandbox in. Give it a try, truly. I don't normally write reviews, but this one absolutely deserves more attention.

This game is a massive upgrade from its older version. It feels like playing an Xbox 360 era mega hit game of yester year.., which is a great thing.😎

Good ol open world rpg. Feels complete, haven't had any problems yet. Recommended

I don't remember seeing this in any show (but maybe I did??). Bought because the trailer was so cool, and now i'm not disappointed. Fantastic work team!
