The Mummy Demastered

Did they even see the movie? Where was the boring exposition and unlikable characters? The makers of this game seem to be going for something fun and entertaining, completely unfaithful to the original.

Loosely based on the 2017 film, inspired by the Metroid franchise, Wayforward has released a Metroidvania title that isn't Shantae. It's a beautiful game with fantastic music, big bright well detailed gorgeous sprites amongst varied environments. Everything about this game is top notch. Except it's a Metroidvania that's too short, way too easy and too expensive at any more than $10. It's Metroid for kids. Do buy this game, as you will enjoy the brief time spent with it, and then you will be upset it's over. Just don't spend more than $10 on it

fans of super metroid, castlevania, and contra must buy this game

This is metroidvania at its finest. It even looks asthetically like a castlevania game and plays like one too minus the guns of course. If MVania is your thing theres no way youll be disappointed with this. I havnt been able to stop playing it and havnt said that about a game in a long time. Finding that next weapon or upgrade that lets you access a different area is so rewarding and satisfying its no wonder at all these types of games are still being made over 30 years after their inspirations were. The developer got the mechanics, world and even music style absolutely perfect for that MV sweet spot and this is among the best of them all IMO. *EDIT* After about 6 months thinking back about this game for me personally this game is so special and completely took me back to to gaming as a kid. It is quite honestly one of the most enjoyable games i played all year if not gen and id give anything to have this amazing developer keep going with these. Do not miss this gem of a game

Based loosely on the 2017 movie The Mummy, The Mummy Demastered is a 16-bit action game that feels like a mix of Metroid and Contra in terms of gunplay. The game is generally fast paced with a rewarding sense of progression as you regularly get weapons and upgrades, and the graphics and soundtrack are very well done. There were two flaws I had with the game: For starters, the only way to get back lost health is to farm enemies and breakable objects as there is no heal stations like in other Metroidvania-type games (like the Strider reboot for example). The other flaw is that dying can be very punishing on the player as depending on where you died it can be difficult to recover your items, mainly since some enemies can do 20-30 damage on hit in the later parts of the game. Other than that however the game was very enjoyable, despite also being somewhat short in terms of playtime.
