Under The Waves

I really enjoyed it but be aware that it is fairly short. I did quite a bit of exploring and finished in about 13 hours. If I had just rushed through it would have been a lot less. The controls for the sub were irritating but I got used to them eventually. The atmosphere and cut scenes were very well done and the little side activities that you can do were a fun addition. The overall themes and depiction of struggling through grief were very well done. Overall I do think it is a good game.

If you're having problems with the mission where you have to shut down the 5 drills and it looks like you have done all 5 but there's still one missing, just go farther down, it's not the one the game it's telling you, there's one more up ahead

How can a game look and sound THIS good, be THIS immersive, and COMPLETELY botch the lip synching? And if you're not even going to TRY to get the lip synching right, then why do you have to show so MUCH of it? I mean, the guy's all by himself, you could've just made it we were hearing his THOUGHTS most of the time and not have to animate the mouth AT ALL. The walking animation looks silly, too, nobody walks like that, not even under water. But when you're trying to tell an emotional story and the lip-syncing looks like a line reading from Bert the Muppet, all immersion goes out the window. Everything else about this game is gem material, the game itself is truly wonderful. But man, that lip syncing just pulls me out. Thank goodness you can change the camera angle most times so far.

Stunning views and rich environment full of things to do and explore. The controls are kinda weird but you can get used to quickly. People complains about being dark and difficult to see so instead of whining just adjust the brightness. You are under water, what do you expect? Full lighting? The only drawback I encounter is that the game crashes sometimes when changing to a new area. Just try it.

It's a really good game. Take your time and explore.
