Gal Guardians: Demon Purge

Bought this on a whim and was surprised. Plays like a castlevania. Playing solo you can switch between chars as you go. One is long range {gun) other is short range (sword). Both get different abilities/subweapons. Controls seem tight enough. Havent gotten super far in yet, but so far so good.

First, why is the game suddenly delisted? That's kind of strange. Anyway, there are light Metroidvania elements, but the first part of the game plays more like Rondo of Blood- Linear stages with branching paths. My only issue is, due to those alternate routes, the eventual litany of collectibles, and the lack of a map make trying to find everything a bit frustrating, and there's no real way to know for sure if you've found everything in a level. This will only affect completionists, though, and otherwise it's a fun game with excellent music.

Right at the start having tons of fun with my girlfriend! Game feels so good and can't wait to see what it evolves into.

The gameplay is fun and I do like how the two playable waifus are distinct from one another in terms of offense and abilities. Both girls also have access to their own exclusive set of side weapons and/or gadgets that add to their uniqueness. The controls are responsive and the graphics look pretty good (the amount of blood you can spill is quite impressive) and there are a lot of secrets to find in each level. Unfortunately you don't have access to a map outside of the level select which is a baffling design choice, especially for a Metroidvania, so exploration will be a pain in the *** if you want to find everything and even then, the maps aren't particularly useful or detailed anyway Its a good game overall though and I recommend it if you like the genre, even moreso if you like anime girl hijinx.

This game is a love letter and throwback to castlevania with anime girls and it freakin ROCKS.
