Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

I almost didn't play this because there are way too many 8/16 bit Vania clones. This 1 is better than all of them by far. The customization is insane. Many different stats you can buff by leveling up, gear choices, and permanently with food. Tons of gear to find or make. Most of the monsters drop new powers(shards) and these powers can be leveled up in Rank and Grade. 1 way increases the power and another the effect. You can farm and upgrade the ones you like. Obtain familiars/helpers. The above applies and they level up like you. Some have secret ways they help. You can grind levels if a boss is too hard. There are many secrets to find and even a way to make finding them easy. There is so much more. It is an incredibly addictive game. You've been warned.

This is SotN with all the good updates to the formula that later games added like the soul absorption from Aria of sorrow, worth every penny on sale or otherwise

Im an older man and my eyesight aint what it used to be so I cant see to play the ds and gameboy castlevanias anymore, so I was really looking foward to playing this metriodvania alas I was 26 hrs into the game and defeated the 2 head dragon in the tower but when I went to get the silver bromide out of the chest it wasnt there...I remembered it did an update this morning and after that things got strange. Treasures I had already looted were back and chests iv never opened where gone !! So now im stuck and have start over without the silver bromide, 26hrs wasted in the toilet. Its a great game just cant do 5 stars with all the glitchs, but I still love what iga an company have done ...as an old retro gamer I felt young again"SLAYTANIC"👴

It's very good and a staple of Metriodvania gameplay. It matches the feel of the SotN Castlevanias excellently. I actually like the graphics and the characters and the amount of items, spells, with more content coming later for free. If you're a fan of the genre then definitely get this.

This game was made by the same guy who directed all but one of the Metroidvania Castlevania games. It takes many elements from different Castlevania games and meshes them together incredibly well. Miriam is like Shanoa but cooler, and Solid Snake voices the cool Samurai guy. Bosses are very unique and cool too. Play this game if you have any inkling of interest in Metroidvanias.
