Part turn based RPG, part board game, part rogue. Easy to learn, but builds in difficulty as you progress.

Solid Slay the Spire mix with FF Tactics
Very smooth graphics, bug free game play, great progression rewards. A worthy pick up if you enjoy roguelite CCGs

I Pre-Ordered Only to Be Disappointed
I found Oaken while browsing for roguelite and/or deckbuilders in the Xbox store. It looked clean enough for me to pre-order because I love both. Unfortunately, it fails to capture the feel of either genre, instead mostly feeling like a tabletop RTS that leaves a bit to be desired. Pros: Oaken is a mix of tabletop RTS, roguelite, and deckbuilding, which makes it unique -- but a spoon with a hole in the center is unique, too. Cons: (1) The UI is *clearly* meant for mouse and keyboard, not controller. It is very unfriendly when trying to pick a unit, play a card, etc. The cursor seems to get random phantom inputs, too, which can make it so frustrating to just click the tile piece you want. (2) The combat isn't very exciting and there's a lot of mechanics that aren't intuitive. I've played for several hours and still struggle to know what a unit will do. (3) Oaken lacks personality. It is yet another game that seems to borrow as much as it can from the vibe Ori made so popular in 2015.
