Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition
Snapshot Games Inc. · Classics
Phoenix Point: Behemoth Edition is the definitive console version of the acclaimed strategy game from the creator of X-COM, collecting 4 DLC expansions, a weapons pack and more.
I haven't finished it yet, but I'm pretty far.
It is NOT harder than X2 with the expansions. Maybe X2 players are struggling to adapt or it's the RNG?
It has tons of RNG.
Example: Search area X and get Z result. Load a save. Search X and get Y result. Reload and get Q result.
RNG determines the faction you start next to. Makes a huge difference. Each can offer a different ending.
TIPS
When they start dropping "smoke" they can see through and you can't. Fall back and force them to follow out of the "smoke".
Drop auto turrets if you might panic(you will). They'll cover you.
Overwatch to shoot the ones who shield after moving, before they can.
Use overlapping fields of fire and staggered line depth.
Save the havens to max faction quickly!
Faction gear opens up new tactics.
Do the main mission ASAP to let you find and re-open bases! Don't over extend.
These will give you a fighting chance.
It's great, but all RNG games can be unfair with bad rolls. Enjoy!

Pros and Cons
So start with cons.
Theres alot performance issues if not on a next gen console. Enemies evolve really quickly after the first few missions making it just a bit too difficult to stay ahead technology wise (just a bit). Enemies can move an extraordiary distance and still be able to attack, twice in some cases, whereas your units can move only short distances while still attacking. Character customization may as well not even exist with helmets in the way. Kill cams are meh (not as fun if you cant see their faces). Research and manufacture take way too long.
Pros.
I love the fine aiming. Love it love it love it. The cross training and weapon proficiency it great i like giving Heavies with jump jets Sniper rifles (in fact it feels like that should have been a sniper thing to begin with.) Factions that support you with tech, resources and volunteers is better than handing you a stack of cash each month.
Some good points but over shadowed by trying to make the game difficult.

Similar but Different
If you've played XCOM you basically know this game, so here's how it differs:
• More complex. Lots of moving parts. XCOM is simpler.
• Much less cinematic. Music less awesome. None of the cool action shots that XCOM has.
• Long. This is more like the Long War mods for XCOM. It's long, you never have enough resources, and sometimes you have to avoid a fight because you need to pick & choose your battles.
• Poor UI. XCOM's UI has its issues, but this one is bad.
• Gear doesn't change. Some people are bugged by this. There are no gear upgrades. Gear stats are a tradeoff. Gain something, but lose something else. Your soldiers' advancement happens via their skills, not their gear.
I'm enjoying it so far with my biggest issue being the UI, but I can get into games that are long and complex. Not everyone can.

Fun Early on Sucks later
It was fun and challenging at first. The hidden level scaling ruined it status effects are applied too easily by the enemy it becomes a major problem later in areas with continuous attacks. I don't mind a challenge as long as its fun.

Honest opinion
Great game alot of fun have played to completion multi times for the diff endings. Now like other reviews said does freeze but exreamly rare for me but does happen. The only reason gave 4✨ is because the loading times when entering places are ridiculously long. For me that's way more annoying then a rare freeze just save often plus has auto save.
