Astalon: Tears of the Earth

Playing this iin a wheelchair feels like im a kid again? Like hollow knight? Grew up on zelda or Wizards and Warriors? Faxanadu or dragon warrior? Than u will love this.

This easily goes in my top 5 metroidvanias of the last 10 years(I play alot of metroidvanias). Probably would go in the 3 spot. MonsterBoy: The Cursed Kingdom and Metroid Dread would be 1 and 2. Make sure you play this old school. Take notes and try to 100% it without help. Also prioritize Algus for your $. He is ridiculously OP. More games in this universe please. ❤️

They make a lot of these kinds of games and I play a lot of them. This is without question one of the best. It's challenging and complicated with gorgeous music and pixel art. If you were a fan of Legacy of the Wizard back in the day you should definitely play this

When I read that the developers were influenced by Faxanadu, I knew I had to play this game. An epic, dark fantasy adventure that leaves a hauntingly indelible impression on the player, Faxanadu was an exquisite experience on the NES. Here in Astalon, the soul of that fabled saga lives on. Experience the closest thing we will likely ever see to a Faxanadu sequel. Traversal through mysterious, mouldering ruins. Creatures that capture the same sense of eerie strangeness. Music that crafts atmosphere. The way the screen shifts when you move into a new area, even when jumping or falling. The ladder traversal. You even find a pair of wingboots (though sadly, they don't make you fly). Absolutely incredible! But the designers didn't stop there. They married the soul of Faxanadu with the item and ability based progression of Metroid. They also enhanced Faxanadu's bare RPG elements and threw in a dash of Castlevania too! Play it and totally lose yourself in this luxurious Faxanatroidvania!

Great art and gameplay. Once u beat the game 100% u unlock 3 other modes. Wish teloporterr took u to any portal u find, instead of a set one.
